Its amazing, for those of you who offer services to the public in this field, how when someone asks to you to sponsor them, and you ask them "what's in it for me?", how unprepared they are with a response. It will blow your mind.

The response I always got was... "I will run your stickers on my car."
I finally came up with a sponsorship program for people like that.
1- You pay full price for my header or intake
2- If you get a pic of your car in a magazine, we would give you 50% back.
3- If your car gets into a magazine and you mention our company we will refund you all of your money.
This weeded out the kids that just wanted a deal and the ones that were serious about the sport.

Its amazing how many people want to be sponsored.
Quick weedout is telling them to send me their trans so I can build it for them and they ask me how much the shipping is going to cost.
Unless you send me a well put together proposal, your email/letter goes in the trash.
I could frankly care less about stickers. I want you out there getting me referrals and name dropping with the media, hell, make sure I'm mentioned in a printed magazine and you'll be golden. Next year every car I sponsor will be running the same big phat sticker though, but then again I'm doing something next year most independent shops don't do.
