so since someone here;) told me i dont post enough:rolleyes: i thought this might be a ? that would be fit to ask i have a 99 hatch with a y7 and im giving it some life it has a sri and 4-2-1 header. im planing on doing the exhaust and been reading and no "clear answer",

im sort of stuck on what size to do the exhaust 2 , 2.15, 2.25, 2.5, 3
(i had a previous n/a d and it worked fine with 2.25 piping) , but i was reading honda tuning article and saw that on their budget d they went with a 3 inch exhaust:confused:

in the future i plan on adding some pistons maybe some p29 or pm3 not sure yet ideas welcomed

i was thinking about doing the entire exhaust piping 2.25 with a high flow cat and a resonator ending in a super turbo muffler(since i get them for a very good price and their is one made specifically for civic)........oh and i also still want to pass emissions here....so what do u guys think or suggest ????

if your planning on just doing basic mods 2.25 will be plenty.

for now the most extreme would be pistons ?

im swapping intake manifolds very soon and getting a short gear trans and pluging in my old chipped p28 and a fpr and maybe a blaster coil....nothing extreme for now that says bisi yet

If you are really planning on doing the pistons sooner than later go for the 2.5 IMO otherwise 2.25 is the wa to go for a NA D.

i'm running 2.25" pipe with just a header as the other mod. I have a Y7 with over 300,000 kms and it still runs pretty good, nothing super exciting but it has good mid range. It's also just big enough that you have breathing room for future mods, It should be adequate even if i were to do an engine swap. But not so big that is will reduce exhaust gas velocity on a car with just mild bolt ons, reducing power made (especially at low rpms)

i suggest changing intake manifold + tb to a y8 before getting a sri or cai as the y7 intake manifold is way different.
also, the y8 injecters are 'bigger' than the y7 injectors but i'v never heard of this being a problem, the extra fuel may be an improvement if you engine is 'breathing' better.
stock ignition is more than adequate and for daily driving
2.25 exhaust and a 4-2-1 header will make a noticable difference when done together.

Plus one for 4-2-1 header and 2.25 piping on a mild D. I have 3 inch on my K20 race car! you dont need 3 inch.
2.25 to 2.50 is the max you want to go or you may loose velocity which will hurt scavenging and make you loose power.. Most Japanese brand exhaust run 60mm which is between 2.25 and 2.50 because thats optimum for most applications.
I nice Greddy or so will be Ideal. Otherwise a Black Vibrant 2.5 with full mandrel piping will suffice.

{oothers-} yep i got the 4-2-1 that is why im doing the exhaust or plan on doing it , im gonna do the mani swap soon and ill be using a b16 tb (thanks deddth) and a thermal intake gasket from fjt , i might ad the adj fpr because the program from the p28 i have has an insane fuel curve so this way i can control it

i would love a greedy sp2 or an apex-i ws2 , or even a vibrant muffler wich are excellent as ive seen or even maybe an es tuning muffler regretably i dont have enough $$$ the most i can do is an obx muffler like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=350072115862 or the replacement from dynomax wich is this one http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=WLK%2D17686&N=700+4294923429+4294922711+400358+500+115&autoview=sku

I see, well i suppose you cant go wrong with that OBX one, piping and maybe a resonator if your not into loudness.

 i wish i could afford one of those u mentioned but the shipping to puerto rico will definetly kill me and here the greedy sp2 exhaust is going for around 650$ maybe i could save up for a vibrant or an es tuning muffler(read some good reviews for them too).......(wonder does weak motor sell them hmmmmm)

the exhaust piping ill get form my cousin he sells it and also the bends so to make it the most free flowing posible

i might add a high flow cat from dynomax cause he sells them cheap and maybe a small thrush resonator ? i still would like to pass emissions if u get my drift ;)

besides the vibrant any other rec on mufflers ??

ultra-flo is cool. Vibrant is the best under 100 though.

If I were you, I would just save another 150-200 and get a HKS catback,if you're going to pay 150 for a muffler.
Email Kiwi at special projects motorsports, he is a vibrant distributor. Tell him one of his drivers, Justin with the gold civic sent you{oothers-} I'm sure you can get one for around $75 bucks from him.

What you guys think of the RS*R EXMAG exhaust system for a crx?

What you guys think of the RS*R EXMAG exhaust system for a crx?if you can afford it, why not rock it? like the tv ad, it's your money, use it when you need it. BUT, if you're on a budget you can build almost the same exhaust at a muffler shop with way less money spent. also if your build isn't a big hp whore i won't worry much if my exhaust is crush or mandrel bent, that imho.

i was originaly going to go with the RS*R exhaust for my build it has 2.36"(60mm) piping. but as i began to ge very indepth in my build i had to basicaly build my exhaust to my engine.

now i'm going with a Skunk2 exhaust fro my rex for the simple fact it's a true 2.5" the bends are very nice and the exit of the exhaust looks OEM not drift style like the Megan, Invidia or other exhaust that taper at the flanges to 2.25". now the the RS*R does have the muffler like OEM. but i was heading a differnt lane.

since i will be running itbs with a very huge cam, i need my exhaust to be able to expell the exhaust just as quick. now i have a 4-1 exhaust.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c356/remoer/exhaust/SSPX0746.jpg

it's an ebay special ZR-1, but whats important is the length of the piping, I.D and O.D of the piping and the merger. it was perfect for my build except the collector. nothing but a simple hacksaw and a welding of a 2.5" collector will help. i'm still unsure if i'm going with the megaphone collector style or a collector with a 15* angle. (the jury is still out on this one). it will go into a flex pipe that will connect to the skunk 2 exhaust. now before some one goes nooooo on the flex pipe. i have one statement to say:

i lose a whooping 1-3 hp but i rather lose that hp than have to keep replace head exhaust studs. since i will be still using it as a DD not a striaght track kart yet.

^^^repped for posting exhaust porn!
thanks, i posted it cause when i pick or buy some product i make sure it's goone benifit my build. not just for the love of the name or the brand. before i decided on the Skunk2 i was going to do a custom exhaust but i kept running into the same problem. every muffler/fart can i found was either 2.25" or 3". so i went and found the skunk2 it was true 2.5" and the bends looked very nice but must of all it didn't have that angle bend i didn't want. i need it to look OEM just to keep it looking OEM without being OEM.
