Similar to my build, but I have .5mm less bore, 2mm less stroke, .5 less compression, different cams, springs, retainers and head...wait maybe it's not so similar :)

What is the advantage of the K20A retainers?

I think Mar778c also uses them. Must be a good thing.

I think they have more valve seal clearance, and their dirt cheap.

what material/strength are they?
when i had steve do my head i also had him put in the supertech valve locks/keepers...they were like 30 bucks or somethin (although i could be way off lol) and well worth the extra piece of mind.

LOL, there's no need to guess. One can obtain the part, and analyze.

I'm using them because this is a dd build and I drive like 20k in like 6 months that I drive the car so I need something that is going to last me a LONG time plus yeah they are cheap people use stock retainers in single cam builds all the time

yeah so this is my plan once i get the time to put my body parts on my 94 Sedan and then pull this motor haha
it will be my all summer long fun car, use it to drag race and auto-x and spirited drives to work in the morning
but what cams should i run i'm thinking either m22xx or m24x? i want something with a nice midrange since i'll be auto-x it and well torque and nice usably power band is good for the streets

Iīm going to do almost the same build-up, since we never had the b18a/b i putt my hands on a b18c6 block wich i will fit with a b20 crank and rods!
Pistons i donīt know yet cause i will do auto-x, solo, rally events(trie to) and i want the build to be easy and less expensive possibel, so i can aford 1 mule engine...in case of...
But for the cams i was aming for blueprint stage3, Pro2 or Rocket M22x....wath do you think?
Thing is to find a valvetrain who doesnīt put to much stress on the unit...love supertech but i think is like 75lbs+ @ seat, isnīt it?

Yhe M24x's might be a little large for your build. M22xx have the larger primary lobes like the pro series cams do which will give you more power below VTEC. The top end of the M22's is strong.

I'd look at either the pro 2's or M22xx's. Ever consider the RM SL series springs? They have lower seat pressure and can handle most any cam on the market and have snap fit retainers. I run them and like them.

Thing is finding Rocketīs stuff at a good price shipped to me...Maybe when i go to Canada visiting my freinds!!
The RM SL series your talking about is the Gen2?
As for the cams i tought going with M24X, wath you guys think?....i forgot the IM and the head will be worked in flow bench...and i will buy a SMSP or SSR header, some RDX injectors with almost 12.5:1(the thing is i must stay with cast pistons) i think is good to reach decent power with these cams?!
Thanks for the tips!
BTW I will not rev over 8500!!

i don't think this would be the ideal situation then, on a <2.0
m22xx would suit you better{oothers-}

Do you plan on going with a 2.0L setup in the future? thats the only reason I could justify buying the M24x over the M22x cams like these guys are saying. you will get better power from a cam designed for specific displacement. food for thought.

No, there were the Gen 1 springs then came the Gen 2 springs and then the SL series springs which are the way to go.

Were i can find a reseller of these cams and springs who will ship overseas? I didnīt see the SL in the line-up on the RM website...
Probably will stick with the M22 then, because for doing a 2.0l i will had to put some sleeves...i donīt think is the best for Auto-X/Rally...since is going to be a relatively low budget team!
Thank you guyīs for the help!

When you talk to an RM dealer they will know what the SL springs are. I don't think their website is up to date.
